What is Rendezyou?
Rendezyou is an easy-to-use event coordination solution: You can invite your friends to an event, suggesting a few alternative dates. Your friends can then indicate on which of the dates you suggested they are available. Rendezyou integrates nicely with Apple’s iCal.
Do I need a Mac to participate in a rendezyou?
No, you don't. All you need is an e-mail address and a web browser. When you are invited to a rendezyou, you will receive an e-mail with your personal link. Clicking it brings you to the rendezyou details page, where you vote on the suggestions.
What do I need to organize a rendezyou myself?
To organize a rendezyou, you need to be running Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard") or higher, the Rendezyou client app (which you can download here), and iCal, the default calendar application that comes with Mac OS X.
How do I organize a rendezyou?
- Download the Rendezyou client app for Mac and launch it.
- Create some events in iCal and drag them into the big white box in the Rendezyou Client app.
- Add the people you want to invite.
- Click 'Send suggestions'.
That’s it. The people you invited are sent an e-mail asking them to vote on your suggestions.
If you have a Rendezyou account, you can also subscribe to your personal Rendezyou calendar. Among other things, it lets you see how many of those that you invited voted for/against each of your suggestions.
Do I need to sign up?
You don't need to sign up to get invited to, nor to organize, a rendezyou. When you organize a rendezyou or are invited to one, you receive an e-mail with a personal link. With your personal link, which you should keep private, you can participate in that precise rendezyou. For each of your rendezyous you will receive a distinct e-mail with a distinct private link.
However, if you want to subscribe to your personal Rendezyou calendar (very good idea), you need to sign up for a Rendezyou.net account with your e-mail address. An account allows you to:
- Subscribe to your personal Rendezyou calendar (or import a snapshot).
- See a list of all your rendezyous in one place on the website (My Rendezyou™s).
- Access an RSS newsfeed containing all your rendezyous.
How much does Rendezyou cost?
You can use Rendezyou for free.
However, if you find it useful, please consider a small donation. We suggest an amount between 3 and 5€.
Why does Rendezyou show this small image next to some names?
These small images are globally recognized avatars. Register at Gravatar.com with your e-mail address, assign an image to it. It will then be displayed next to your name in all your rendezyous – and on many other Gravatar-enabled sites on the Web.
What is the font used for displaying participant comments?
Glad you asked! It's called AKBAR, and looks like Matt Groening's handwriting. You can download the font for free at the AKBAR font website.
What technologies do you use for developing Rendezyou?
The Rendezyou client app is built on the Cocoa framework and Objective-C. The web application is built on Ruby on Rails.
